Petit-Bourg, a parish near at hand

Between sea and mountains,Petit-Bourg has a green countryside with hills and rivers;situated on the « Basse-Terre » side of the island ,after passing over one of the bridges that crossing the « Rivière Salée »,Petit-Bourg is today thanx to it’s proximity to the industrial zone of « Jarry »and to the commercial zone of « Destrelland » a residential area.

 

it streching until Goyave to the coast side with Pointe a Pitre right in front on the other side of the « cul-de-sac marin ».The Town is today by-passed by a highway that brings directly to Capesterre and Basse-Terre. The « Viard »beach is particularly appreciated from surf and sea’s sport lovers.

Petit-Bourg lays out to the inside too ,until very high up in the mountains by the national natural reserve »Parc Naturel de la Guadeloupe ».Excursions lovers wouldn’t miss the « Moreau » waterfalls,is essential as for all hikes to watch the weather forecast before you go.

It’s on the generous flanks of the mountain that you can find the « Domaine de Valombreuse »a large botanical and animal parc that propose you to discover in an exceptional environnement over 300 bird species and different animal species(the Cozy Villas are just at 3 km from the Parc).

The « Saut de la Lezarde »is another curiosity of the place you cannot miss and the « Cascade des ecrevisses » one of the most visited sites.The road winds up in an astonishing landscape until the « Col des Mammelles » that culminates at 768m and offer a wonderful panorama,than goes back down towards the sea ;you must take a stop at the « Parc des Mammelles »a botanical and zoological reserve that the whole family will appreciate.
